Synopsis

"Wanted for Murder-One, the Batman!"--script Dennis O'Neil;art Irv Novick

A talk-show host who insulted Commissioner Gordon and the Batman on his show is found dead, and all clues seem to point to the Batman as the culprit.

Jonah Jory is one of those talk-show hosts with as many enemies as viewers,He is found shot to death while working out in a private room at a health club. He was killed with a .38 caliber revolver that is not at the scene--and then a witness reports he saw Batman BUYING a .38 in a pawn shop. Batman's allergy to firearms makes this unlikely, but Commissioner Gordon,under political pressure;puts out an ABP on Batman.

The Batman tracks down two small time criminals who were recruited for apparently minor jobs.Little Willie Piper got $1,000.00 for disturbing the peace close to t he murder scene,apparently to distract from something else.Sy Semple turns out to have bought the gun dressed as Batman by someone who hired him over the telephone.The .38 Semple bought is safely in a bus station locker and hadn't been fired.

The Batman inspects the murder scene as Commissioner Gordon walks in.It turns out Jory shot himself with a gun attatched to strong elastic.When he died,the released elastic sent the gun out an open window.,It is found in the alley below.

Alex Saddows, son of Mystery Analyst Art Saddows, accidentally kills a drag-racing rival in what looks like a revenge strike, and the Batman gets on the case to find Alex and discover the truth behind the incident.

Searching for Alex, Batman finds him railroaded into being the getaway driver on a fur robbery. Alex manages to blink SOS on t he car's headlights, and batman prevents the robbery. Wanting to settle matters himself, Alex takes off in the car to confront Jack Donaldson; who had sabotaged his brakes so he could have a clear field with Alex's girl.
